mdf baseboard skirting board moldingOgee Panel Molding 5-1/4″

You may recognize this profile even if you don’t know much about moldings.  That’s because it’s been used as a baseboard molding in millions of homes.

But what you may not know is that it has many other uses in classical architecture.

In fact, we’re using a trimmed down version of this profile for the ceiling and wall panels in our half bathroom molding makeover (peek into our still under construction bathroom here).

You can find this profile with other fascia heights (the fascia is the flat portion of this molding), usually between 3-1/2″, 4-1/2″ tall or as tall as this one.

It’s a very common profile and you can buy it at most any molding & millwork retailer or lumber yard.

Warning

As with all moldings, make sure you only buy this molding if you can find one with a high-resolution ogee detail — unfortunately there are a lot of very poor versions of this molding to avoid.
