Victorian Style Plinth Block
These are accurate reproductions of Victorian style plinth blocks that can be found at most lumber yards or molding & millwork retailers.
The door or window casings you can use with them are:
- Flat-stock pilasters supporting an entablature
- Symmetrical casings with corner blocks
Do not use these plinth blocks with casings that are not bilaterally symmetrical.
Bilaterally symmetrical casings can be cut in half lengthwise and each half will be a mirror image of the other.
Adjusting Thickness
If your casing is thicker than your plinth blocks you can add a spacer to the back. A piece of 1/4″ thick mdf board is a good choice.
You can also trim this down on your table saw if you need a little less material.
